Bioluminescence blue glow Scripps Pier swimming long exposure

The grad students went out on Scripps pier to dork out about cyanobacteria. Smiths and I went along.

It's not easy to shoot, these were about five second exposures at iso 500ish. Flash for the subject, long shutter for the bioluminescence. Only post-prod was to bump the exposure a fraction of a stop, none on the above photo.

In person it's this bright, but less cloudy. When the sea lions and dolphins scattered nearby fish the result looked like fireworks.

And Ty jumped the pier and made a blue splash.

The Medieval Gridiron draft party was regrettably replaced with a kickoff party. It was still fun.

Medieval Gridiron (friends), Supermassive Blackhole (work), AFL ($), League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (friends/teammates).

Fantasy has begun, and though I didn't pull my dream team in any league, there's plenty to look forward to.
